Fehu

Fehu: meaning

Resources include money, time, tools and attention. Before seeking more, distinguish what is available from what is already committed; sharing has a cost.

Symbols and details in the image

Notice the sign ᚠ: a vertical stroke with two diagonal branches to the right, inside a fine circle. Which detail catches your attention first? Explore the image and connect that detail with your question: gestures, shapes and contrasts open up new associations.

Fehu: interpretation

Which resource could you use this week without exhausting a necessary reserve?

A reading step by step

Explore the three positions of Elder Futhark runes with this example. Place the images in the stated order and follow each row’s ideas. Then connect the three themes: how does the perspective change from one position to the next?

• First element · Fehu: Resources include money, time, tools and attention.
• Second element · Uruz: Steadiness grows from a repeatable rhythm.
• Third element · Thurisaz: A useful boundary names a behaviour and a consequence you can uphold.

History and inspiration

The Elder Futhark brings together twenty-four writing signs. This collection presents them in original drawings so you can recognise each rune and compare their shapes. Our present-day readings connect the signs with resources, cooperation and taking a pause, beginning with your question.
